Mix Tape Memories

I revealed some tape-related memories while writing the description for these Cassette Barrettes... now I can't stop thinking about them!!  Tell me your memories of tapes!  Mix tapes or albums you had on tape! Comment below with your cassette confessions and receive analog absolution!  The magnanimous forces of magnetic tape will bestow one felt cassette (also available as a pin if you don't rock hair clips) upon a randomly selected winner next Friday, 8/25.

Ha! What's on them?! Newsies Soundtrack, Ani DiFranco, and The Queers? Or some Radiohead with emotional footnotes about teenagerish things?

One of my favorites has some weird portuguese music and another is all covered in the most amazing grocery store stickers. The Queers, yeah, for sure. And the Violent Femmes, some Cake, and Radiohead of course...

We listened to some of the cd's about 8 years later and it was so embarrassing! haha

Senior year of high school, a boy who crushed on me since our Freshman year finally had the nerve to ask me to be his girlfriend (before the concept of dating existed!). I gave him an answer via mixtape and hand wrote the lyrics to the first song on the tape. The song? New Edition - You're not my Kind of Girl. http://www.vevo.com/watch/USUV70600549

My favorite mix tape was made for my 6th grade crush. At that time, I had dreams of being a radio dj, so I would fill in the transitions between songs, like a real radio Dj! I carefully planned my play list and wrote out my script. After completing it, I was way to proud and shy to give it to my crush, so I kept for myself :) I wish I still had it. I also wish I stuck with those dreams because I would've had a killer podcast as a jaded 30 year old. Haha.
